About DistrictTenant
DistrictTenant is a free public-records research tool for renters in Washington, DC. We aggregate parcel records, ownership filings, and housing-code violations from DC's open data portals so renters can look up any address before signing a lease and see what the public record actually says.
We are not a rental marketplace. We do not list apartments. We are tenant-aligned and not a landlord product.
How it works
We pull data weekly from the DC Office of Tax and Revenue's Integrated Tax System Public Extract, the DC Basic Business License feed (used to map LLCs to their responsible parties for the ownership-graph view), and the DC Department of Buildings public dashboard (housing-code Notices of Infraction). Property pages link back to the original government records — we're an interface to public data, not a re-publisher.
Tenant reviews are coming in a future release.
Bot identification
Our ingestion identifies itself as WittLabs-DistrictTenant/1.0 in the user-agent header and respects rate limits and crawl-delay directives.
